Golly Doncaster
The villa is set on the hillside overlooking Fiskardo and Ithaca. The views from the patio and pool are breath taking. The quality of furnishings and equipment at the villa are very impressive. Rooms were all tastefully decorated and of generous size. The road to the villa is steep (our hire car for 6 struggled to get up the hill) and although it says in the details it is 10 minutes walk to Fiskardo it took us 20 minutes to walk to the harbour. We didn’t attempt the trip back uphill on foot but taxis are freely available until midnight from the town for 5 euros. Fiskardo is a lovely fishing harbour that is frequented by locals, tourists and the wealthy yachting fraternity. Lots of nice places to eat and drink and, despite the reviews we read before travelling, we didn’t find it too pricey. It is very low key and not a party destination but nice for a meal and drinks. Mostly couples not many young children. The coast road from the airport to the villa is not for those scared of heights but has amazing views. You can get to 2 of the beaches on foot from the villa. Emblisi is nearest but I preferred Foki which you can walk to from the harbour. I would say that a car is essential to get around the island and to get shopping from the supermarkets etc. The only downside at the villa was that the pool was too cold to swim in at this time of year (we travelled on 28th September) and would benefit from being heated. Overall a lovely holiday in a beautiful area in a beautiful villa in a spectacular setting.
